Housing & Dining for Your Student

Choosing to live on campus provides a safe, convenient, and affordable home for your student, with all utilities, free laundry, high-speed internet and streaming TV included. Beyond comfort, campus housing fosters friendships, leadership opportunities and a vibrant community. Students living on campus are required to have a meal plan, selected during fall housing check-in.

Safe & Secure

Your student’s safety is our top priority. UW-Green Bay provides a secure and welcoming environment where students can focus on learning, growing and thriving. Here's how we keep campus safe:

  • 24/7 Campus Safety Patrols – UW-Green Bay Police actively monitor campus around the clock.
  • GB Alert System – Instant notifications keep students informed in case of emergencies.
  • Secure Housing – Keycard access ensures only residents and approved guests enter.
  • Safe Walk Program – Safe walks available for students at night.
  • Wellness Center – On-campus medical care and mental health support.
  • Supportive Community – Small campus feel with faculty, staff and peers looking out for each other.

Common Questions

Many parents and guardians have questions about their student starting at UW-Green Bay. Take a look at a few of the most common questions.

Q: When does my student register for fall classes?

Students will register for classes during their GB Orientation process. All first-year students will register in person during their one-day program. All transfer students should schedule a one-on-one session with a professional advisor to register. Please have your student visit their Wings Portal to sign up for orientation.

Q: Does my student have to live on campus?

Living on campus is optional at UW-Green Bay. A number of our area students save money by living at home with their families. However, students who choose to live on campus enjoy safe, conveniently-located housing at an affordable price which includes all utilities, free laundry, high-definition streaming TV and high-speed Internet. Studies show students who live on campus get better grades and persist to graduation at a higher rate. More importantly, living on campus also means being able to build life-long friendships with others and having convenient access to a variety of programs, services and leadership involvement opportunities.

Once a student is admitted to UW-Green Bay and their student account is set up, they can sign up for housing. Completing a housing contract will allow them to secure on-campus housing.

Q: What next steps should my student be taking?

Your student's next steps change after they have applied and received their acceptance letter.

Q: How much will UW-Green Bay cost?

The cost to attend UW-Green Bay will vary by your student's residency status (for example, it's cheaper for students who live in Wisconsin, or participate in reduced tuition programs for neighboring states.) Their expenses will vary if they save money by living at home or if your student earned college credit in high school, allowing them to graduate early. Remember, there are ways to make college affordable with financial aid, scholarships and student employment. Whatever the case, UW-Green Bay is an excellent value for the cost. Refer to our cost page for a listing of tuition and fees, expenses, and calculators to help estimate your cost.

Q: What should my child bring to college?

Helping your child prepare for college can be exciting, and maybe a little daunting to plan out. If your child is living on campus, refer to the housing department's list of essential items that you should consider bringing with you, and those things you should leave at home.
