Course Description

Situations of acute crisis can be dangerous and difficult situations in which to intervene. This training will provide participants with some concrete skills and tools to use to be able to be able to maximize your effectiveness and reduce risk. Expanding on the key themes of self-awareness and co-regulation, we will explain, discuss, and practice ways to be able to regulate yourself in these tense moments as a key tool to be able to attempt to calm an out-of-control, angry individual. From there we will provide a tool kit of ways to fine-tune your intervention strategy to attempt to maintain safety for you, the individual, and others involved.

Brian Bean

Brian Bean is a training coordinator for Thresholds Youth and Young Adult Services in Chicago, Illinois. He has twenty years of experience in both practicing crisis intervention and training of direct care staff. He is a certified instructor in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, the Transition to Independence Process model, and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network Think Trauma curricula.
