Course Description

DBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that has been proven effective with a multitude of behavioral health challenges, including borderline personality disorder, suicidality and self-harm, mood disorders, and substance use.  Emotion Regulation is the fourth of the offering of the DBT virtual workshops.  Emotion Regulation will focus on and discuss goals for emotional regulation skills, ​ understanding and naming emotions, changing emotions you want to change, reducing vulnerability to emotion mind, managing really difficult emotions and troubleshooting emotion regulation.

About the Trainer

Sarah Weber, LPC

Sarah Weber, LPC

Sarah Weber earned her Master’s degree in Community Psychology from Alverno College and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She completed her internship at the Center for Behavioral Medicine being trained in the theory and practices of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She quickly learned the impact of practicing DBT skills both in her own life and in helping clients recognize and validate their own strengths and abilities. Sarah has an extensive history working with youth and families who have experienced trauma as a community-based social worker. Within her training at Center for Behavioral Medicine, she has received advanced training in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including prolonged exposure for PTSD and OCD. Currently, Sarah works with adults and adolescents and is continuing her passion for community outreach with leading an initiative for DBT in Schools. Sarah is also looking forward to running the Parent Grad-Group come 2023, providing an extension to the Stage 1 Multi-Family Skills Group for parents and caregivers. She has also participated in a variety of trainings on DBT in Schools and its curriculum, DBT STEPS-A. Sarah is gentle and compassionate. She values building and maintaining warm and reliable relationships with her clients, focusing on each individual’s unique strengths and interests. Sarah works collaboratively with her clients promoting hope and independence in managing life’s challenges and striving for change.
