Course Description
LGBTQIA+ individuals experience disproportionately higher rates of suicide due to stigma, discrimination, and barriers to affirming care. This training provides an in-depth look at the unique risk and protective factors impacting LGBTQIA+ mental health and suicide prevention. Participants will gain tools for recognizing warning signs, engaging in affirming and effective crisis intervention, and fostering inclusive environments that promote resilience and well-being. This session is designed for mental health professionals, educators, and community members committed to suicide prevention in LGBTQIA+ populations.
Learning Objectives:
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to identify key risk and protective factors influencing suicide rates among LGBTQIA+ individuals.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to apply affirming language and interventions when engaging in suicide prevention and crisis response.
- After participating in this session, attendees should be able to develop strategies to create inclusive and supportive environments that enhance protective factors for the
