Maria Yakushkina, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Humanistic Studies. Her areas of expertise include sociolinguistics, transnationalism, heritage- and second language acquisition and teaching, language and gender, and sociopragmatics. Her current research focuses on the interconnection between transnationalism, language use, and identity among 1.5- and second generation of migrants, heritage speakers of Spanish in the US.
