Retiree Association July 2022 Picnic

After a two-year absence of the annual September retiree dinner due to COVID, the Retiree Association held a cookout/picnic at the Weidner Center July 21, 2022. More than 50 retirees and their spouses gathered for a social hour followed by a picnic buffet. President Dan Spielmann’s remarks included the transfer of scholarship money by Ceil Hintz (a former employee of the Academic Advising Office) to our retiree scholarship account, making our balance $91,000. The 2021-22 scholarship recipient was Elsie McElroy, who received an award of $1700. There was a Retiree Board of Director’s annual update and approval of the slate of new board members. Carol Emmons discussed a special retiree opportunity at the STEM Innovation Center, which included a tour of the facilities with an opportunity for a small take-home project. Our guest speaker for the evening was Chancellor Alexander. He discussed UW-Green Bay and adapting to the future of higher education and the needs of the region. See more.

2019 Retiree Association Annual Banquet

UW-Green Bay retirees and their guests gathered to celebrate the 20^th Annual Retiree Association dinner on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in the Phoenix Rooms, University Union. Festivities began with a social hour followed by dinner, business and featured speaker. The speaker for the evening was Daniel Moore, the UW-Green Bay Videographer and Photographer. In addition to his work for the University, Moore is an award-winning landscape photographer focusing on images of our National Parks. Moore presented a selection of his photographs and share his thoughts about visiting the National Parks. See more.

The ninth annual UW-Green Bay Retirees Golf Outing was held August 15, 2019, at Shorewood Golf Course. It was a fun day for 35 attendees who enjoyed a gorgeous day, followed by a buffet lunch at the clubhouse. This annual fundraising event yielded more than $700 for the Retiree Association Scholarship Fund. See more.

Fourteen UW-Green Bay retirees enjoyed the 9th annual Retiree Association Cofrin Memorial Arboretum walk held Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Bobbie Webster, natural areas ecologist for the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity, led the group which began at Lambeau Cottage. As they walked along the bay the group identified spring plants, plant communities, invasive plants and how the arboretum is managed. See more.

2018 Annual Retiree Golf Outing

The eighth annual UW-Green Bay Retirees Golf Outing was held August 16, 2018. It was another beautiful day for 36 golfers to enjoy the Shorewood Golf Course, with an additional eight people joining the group for a buffet lunch at the clubhouse. Prizes were plenty for low- and high-gross, event hole, and individual name drawing prizes. The annual UW-Green Bay Retiree Association Endowed Scholarship fundraiser event yielded $1,027. See more.

2018 Retirees Arboretum Walk

The UW-Green Bay Retiree Association sponsored its eighth annual Cofrin Memorial Arboretum walk on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Associate Prof. Dan Meinhardt (Biology), curator of the Richter Museum, led the walk which began at the Nicolet Entrance of the University. The participants enjoyed the beautiful day while identifying spring plants and wildlife. See more.

2017 Retirees Annual Banquet

About 60 UW-Green Bay retirees and their spouses gathered to celebrate the 18th Annual Retiree’s Banquet held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, in the UW-Green Bay, University Union, Phoenix Rooms.

Festivities began with a social hour and dinner. President Pat Przybelski’s remarks included an announcement of the Retiree Association Board Scholarship. Jessica Hannon, a junior majoring in Human Biology and an aspiring veterinarian, was this year’s recipient of the thousand-dollar award. Although Hannon was unable to attend, her thank you note, which was read to the group, received warm applause.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, Mathew Dornbush, was the guest speaker. Dornbush spoke about current challenges and opportunities in higher education. He highlighted UW-Green Bay’s recent accomplishments and opportunities, positioning the University for sustained success in the future. Check out the photo gallery.

The 7th annual UW-Green Bay Retirees Golf Outing was held August 17, 2017. In spite of a rainy forecast, 35 attendees enjoyed a gorgeous day at UW-Green Bay’s Shorewood Golf Course followed by a buffet lunch at the clubhouse.
