Researching Graduate Schools

As you consider pursuing a graduate or professional degree, here are some resources to help you with your search.

Selecting the Right Program

As you do your research and explore your options, here's information to consider about each program.
  • Program courses and offerings
  • Flexibility of the curriculum and length of the program
  • Prominence or accreditation of the program
  • Size, geographic location, type and availability of housing, and community environment
  • Availability of placement services and placement outlook
  • Application requirements (test scores, essays, interview, etc.), background and student credentials
  • Financial Aid opportunities, cost and residency requirements
  • Ability to gain practical experience during the program (assistantships, research, etc.)

  • Theoretical approach to the subject matter
  • Specific specialties and interest of the faculty
  • Philosophical and professional attitudes of the faculty members and the department
  • Current research, publications and professional involvement of the faculty
