Mission

The Hmong Studies Center supports courses, public lectures, research seminars, and other cultural events serving Hmong students and the Hmong community in the greater Green Bay region. Each year the Center sponsors courses on Hmong language, culture, and history and brings outstanding visiting scholars and officials to conduct seminars and public lectures. Hmong students will serve as Research Fellows at center where they will receive specialized training in research methods, data analysis, and preparation and presentation of research reports for professional conferences.

The Hmong Studies Center brings together faculty and students from many different programs across the UW-Green Bay community and follows the interdisciplinary mission of the university by promoting discussion and sponsoring research across the disciplines. The Center includes faculty from Education, English, Humanistic Studies, Sociology, and Urban and Regional Studies for the common goal of promoting education and knowledge of Hmong culture and society.
