Creativity & The Arts

Striking a Chord

The arts inspire, challenge and foster connections.

Being creative takes courage. We create art for a lot of reasons, but one thing rings true for all of us: It’s essential to the human experience. Ignite the Future is supporting creativity and the arts to bring our community together and spark more opportunities for our students.

Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music

Music brings us together—it fosters connections and invites nostalgia. It comforts and inspires us, strikes the chords of our emotions and enhances the human condition. Serving career readiness and creative development, the Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music provides students with the training, skills and passion to make music an integral part of their lives and acts as an outlet to share that talent with the community. The Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music hosts three performance ensembles: Instrumental, Jazz, and Vocal, and regularly hosts public performances that gather our community and celebrate music. In addition, the Institute supports a new and growing program in audio production.

The Sharon J. Resch Institute of Music provides multiple four-year student scholarships, funds instrument purchase and maintenance, including new pianos, and supports UW-Green Bay's hosting of the American International Czech and Slovak Voice Competition.

Audio Production Studio

At the nexus of music and technology is UW-Green Bay's new Bachelor of Music emphasis in Audio Production, preparing students for a dynamic career in audio engineering, live sound, post-production, broadcasting, podcasting, internet audio and more. In addition to the core curriculum in music theory, history, performance and applied study, students receive specialized instruction in digital audio and audio engineering.

To increase program capacity and improve learning outcomes, a dedicated audio recording studio is needed. This dedicated studio will be built to acoustic specifications and have sound isolation between rooms, quiet HVAC handling and airlocks.

The studio will also serve Phoenix Studios, UW-Green Bay’s podcast network, and provide an opportunity for community engagement and service through the production of music, ad spots and other media.
