Voter ID
A Voter ID is used as a form of photo identification to obtain a ballot at the polls on Election Day. It does not register you to vote, nor can it be used to register. Students who meet eligibility requirements and plan to vote in upcoming elections will need to present a form of identification at the polls.
UW-Green Bay students who do not have a form of ID listed below can obtain a Voter ID at the University Ticketing & Information Center at no cost. The ID can be used as a form of identification at any polling location on or off campus.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
- Valid Wisconsin Driver License or Wisconsin state ID
- U.S. passport
- U.S. Uniformed Services card
- Veterans Affairs ID
- Tribal ID
- Certificate of Naturalization
- University Voter ID
When to Obtain a Voter ID
UW-Green Bay students can request a Voter ID any time during the year regardless if there is an election. It is recommended to obtain a Voter ID prior to Election Day.
University ID as Voter ID
Students who do not have an acceptable form of identification may use a University ID to vote if it was printed before July 1, 2022. If your University ID card was printed after July 1, 2022 and does NOT display voting information on the back panel, you may request a Voter ID.
If your University ID card displays voting information on the back panel, and is expired, it may still be used to vote. If your University ID is expired, you must also provide a Voter ID Verification Form or a document such as a class schedule, tuition fee receipt, or certified campus housing list. You must show your original University ID if you are voting in-person but may show your proof of enrollment document electronically.
