Research Interests I’m interested in how animals run, swim, and fly. On a small scale, a hummingbird’s ability to turn-on-a-dime may allow it to escape from a predator. On a large scale, whales migrate thousands of miles between their feeding grounds and breeding grounds, using routes and speeds that are finely tuned to save energy. My research uses techniques such as 3D video-tracking, bio-logging, and hydrodynamic modeling to study how animals move and how this affects their ecology, behavior, and evolution. Website
