Heather Lawrence
Heather Lawrence joined the UW-Green Bay social work faculty in summer 2019 as a Lecturer and Child Welfare Coordinator. Heather is a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay alumni, earning both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Social Work Professional Programs.
Previously, Heather worked in public child welfare, holding positions in both Child Protective Services and Youth Justice. She has experience in direct practice social work, supervision and management. Prior to joining the social work faculty, Heather was the Division Manager of Outagamie County Youth and Family Services, overseeing supervisors, social workers and youth care specialists across a variety of youth justice programs.
Heather’s training has included Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Treating Complex Trauma, Motivational Interviewing, Secondary Traumatic Stress, and Evidence-based Practice Interventions for Youth. Her professional interests include trauma-informed self-care, dually involved youth, disproportionality in child welfare and organizational culture in child welfare agencies. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
