Graduate SAP Guidelines

The Financial Aid Office will measure, after each term of attendance, whether or not you are meeting SAP (see Satisfactory Academic Progress for helpful terms and general information). The standards measured are as follows:

  • Cumulative GPA: You must achieve and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 after attempting 20 graduate credits at UW-Green Bay.
  • Cumulative Completion Rate: You must pass 67% of the overall credits attempted. Attempts are counted regardless of whether or not aid was received for that term and will include all credits, including test, transfer, etc.
  • UW-Green Bay Completion Rate: In addition to the cumulative completion rate (above), you must pass 50% of cumulative UW-Green Bay credits attempted. Attempts are counted regardless of whether or not aid was received for that term.
  • Cumulative Attempted Credit Maximum:You must graduate with attempted credits within 150% of a published program’s length. In order to follow federal regulations, yet recognizing that each graduate program may have differing graduation requirements, the Financial Aid Office will begin to alert students of the 150% rule when they have reached 30 graduate credits attempted. At 45 credits attempted, an initial evaluation will be done to determine whether an ‘ineligible’ status is appropriate.
    • If any UW-Green Bay Graduate program has published a length that may exceed 30 credits, the Financial Aid Office will first contact the department to obtain further information on a your required coursework. This review may result in the student meeting SAP standards and no further action will be required from you.
    • If you are found ineligible, or if the program requirements are unclear, a letter will be sent to you and an appeal will be necessary. In addition to the Appeal for Reinstatement of Aid form, the appeal must contain clarification from your advisor outlining the overall requirements and remaining curriculum as well as the anticipated graduation date.
