Poster Presentations

The Capstone Project for the UW-Green Bay MSW Program is derived from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies, which all students graduating from accredited social work programs must master. In their final year, UW-Green Bay MSW students complete the Capstone Project by selecting a topic relevant to social work practice, developing an Annotated Bibliography based on a thorough review and comprehension of current professional literature, and preparing a professional Capstone Poster presentation. This presentation, grounded in both theory and practice, demonstrates the student’s mastery of the nine competencies across three dimensions outlined in the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS): values, skills, and knowledge. Posters are presented in a public forum.

The Nine Social Work Competencies

Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies:

  1. Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior
  2. Advance Human Rights and Social, Racial, Economic, and Environmental Justice
  3. Engage Anti-Racism, Diversity and Equity, and Inclusion (AEDI) in Practice
  4. Engage in Practice-informed Research and Research-informed Practice
  5. Engage in Policy Practice
  6. Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
  7. Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
  8. Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
  9. Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities

The Symposium is a public event, held at the end of the spring semester, during which graduating MSW students display their unique professional accomplishments through the Poster presentation.

MSW Capstone Project Archive

The Cofrin Library serves as a digital repository for graduate level capstone projects, such as the Symposium posters. Archiving the posters gives current and future students the opportunity to access high-quality research conducted by MSW students.
