Active Directory

Active Directory is a central repository for authenticating users and providing access to network resources.


Accessible Information Management (AIM) is comprehensive accommodation, appointment, and case management software used by the Disability Services department.


Alma by Ex Libris is the library software that manages the library collection through a single interface, used to serve students, instructors, and researchers with a collection optimized for their needs. With Alma you can manage all the resource types your collections include within a single interface, including electronic, print, and digital.


Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems allow Public Safety to enhance their enforcement and investigative capabilities, expand their data collection and expedite their vehicle tracking and monitoring.   UW-Green Bay uses systems from 3M/Neology and Gtechna.


Activities, Programs and Events is a customized add-on to RMS for tracking Activities, Programs and Events in Residence Life.  It will be replaced by RoomPact in 2018.

Audio-Video Duplication

Format conversion services are provided for audio and video.

Audio-Video Production, Editing and Distribution

On-site recording of live events, postproduction editing and duplication of finished products is provided. The final product can be delivered as a CD/DVD or an online format for viewer access.


Authentication Services include any services that authenticate against Active Directory, LDAP or Shibboleth. For example, uses Shibboleth to authenticate against Active Directory.

Backup and Recovery

Enterprise data on UWGB servers is backed up according to internal policies that govern full and differential backup schedules, as well as data retention periods and secure off-site media storage. The default retention period for most files is 30 days.

Blackboard Collaborate

Blackboard Collaborate is an online collaborative learning solution for web conferencing for online meetings and classrooms.

Blackboard Transact

Blackboard Transact is integrated with ID Works, the student ID card application and Point of Sale (POS) devices.  Blackboard provides students, faculty and staff with cashless transactions for on and off campus dining, vending, retail and  bookstore using dining plans and passpoints.

BrightSign Digital Signs

BrightSign is the digital signage system in the library commons area.

Business Analysis

Business Analysis is the practice of shaping a vision or recommendation for organizational improvement into a definition of a feasible project to meet clear objectives.

Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence uses a set of techniques and tools for acquiring and transforming raw data into meaningful and useful information for business analysis.  UWBI is the UW-System Business Intelligence tool.

Campus Digital Signage System Installation and Technical Support

Design, specify, procure, install, and support Visix, and other brands of signage hardware.

Campus Electronic Equipment Repair

Repair service is offered for campus-owned equipment.

Campus Two Way Radio System Design and Support

Emergency and day-to-day business communication is essential to keep the campus running smoothly.


Canvas is a learning management system that features intuitive instructional workflows, improved collaboration, and the ability to integrate with many external tools.  UW-System will be transitioning to Canvas in 2018-2019.

Classroom Lecture Capture/Recording

Support offered for lecture capture hardware such as cameras and microphones; connection to other classroom equipment is facilitated. Portable equipment like the Sharp Aquos Boards are also delivered and supported.

Computer Labs

There are over 500 Windows PCs and Macintoshes in computer labs at UW - Green Bay with excellent availability for our students. In general, there are two types of student computer labs -- General Access labs (IS 1129 suite and Library 3rd floor) and UWGB Specialty Labs.

Computer Inventory Planning & Rollout

We now replace workstations every 4 years, so approximately one quarter of the computers are replaced every year, and Five year old workstations are used for student workers, adhoc, etc. Options for ordering a computer.

Computers in Classrooms

Faculty can incorporate computer technology into their instruction using one of the many technology classrooms on campus. These classrooms are equipped with computers, LCD projectors, VCRs, slide projectors, document cameras, and traditional overheads.


Courseleaf Catalog (CAT) and Courseleaf Curriculum (CIM) by Leepfrog work together to import course information from SIS, provide customized pre-populated forms for authors, automatically create workflow, identify all impacted courses by a proposed change, track edits and comments, report on status, and provides compare reports to be used to update SIS.

Credential Solutions / RoboRegistrar

Credential Solutions / RoboRegistrar is the third party vendor used by the Registrar's Office for transcript requests. This is accessible from SIS.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a technology for managing the university's relationships and interactions with prospective students, current students, alumni, parents, donors and constituents.

Cyber Security Training and Awareness

Improve the Cyber Security awareness of our campus faculty, staff, and students through the use of training, simulations, and awareness campaigns.

D2L / Desire2Learn

D2L is an online learning management system (LMS) that is used by all UW-System campuses, either as a course delivery tool for online courses, or as a supplementary tool for face-to-face or blended courses.  It is used for the  administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of educational courses or training programs.   D2L is short for Desire2Learn, a commercial learning management system (LMS).

Data Center

IT manages two data centers and a disaster recovery site. The current facilities combine physical security with environmental monitoring and generator power.

Domain Accounts

A domain account grants access to campus tools such as Exchange email, shared folders and networked printers that use Microsoft Active Directory for authentication.  Our policy on domain accounts.


UWGB’s official email program is Microsoft Exchange. Microsoft Exchange is a suite of tools that include calendaring, scheduling assist, task management, contacts, shared mailboxes, public folders, and address books. Email is accessed via the Outlook desktop client or Outlook web application (OWA). You can also set up email on your Apple and Android devices.

Email Abuse is IT's contact method for reporting spam, phishing attempts, malicious email, and other types of misuse of IT resources within the UWGB community.  More information on phishing emails and how to report them.

Email Distribution Lists

An email distribution list is a group of email recipients that are addressed as a single recipient. Email distribution lists are used to facilitate resource sharing, communication, research, and community building. This method of communication is viewed as being cost-effective and reducing the amount of paperwork distributed through other established means (intercampus mail). For example, every course has its own distribution list that includes the students taking the course.


EMS is room and resource scheduling software used by UW-Green Bay for scheduling classrooms, meeting and conference rooms.

Event Live Streaming

Events include Commencement, Board of Regents meetings and other major campus events. Distance Education Classroom and Videoconference Site Support is also provided. Hosting services, bridging, coordination, user training and technical support for the campus community and external agencies.

File Storage

UWGB provides the primary file storage for departments and users through enterprise class network attached storage or cloud based storage through Microsoft Office 365.


A firewall is a network security system that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. It acts as a barrier between trusted and untrusted networks.

Financial Edge

Financial Edge is accounting software used by the Advancement office to manage financial reporting, support fundraising efforts and manage and monitor grants and programs.  Integrated with Raiser's Edge and Papersave.


GBAlert is the UW-Green Bay solution for emergency notifications for the campus.  It uses the e2Campus software application.

Guest Wireless Network

UWGB provides a courtesy guest wireless network for campus visitors.


PRO powered by Handshake is the software used by Career Services to connect students, alumni and employers.  It helps students find internships and full time positions,  discover employers, submit applications, locate career fairs and other events and sign up for campus interviews. 

Help Desk

The IT Help Desk is located in IS1150 on campus where you can stop by in person, call, or email for assistance with all your technology needs. The Help Desk provides computer support for all university-owned computers. In addition to helping you setup WIFI on your phone, reset forgotten passwords, and unlock accounts, the Help Desk can enter service requests for more other problem resolution. or (920) 465-2309


Human Resource System (HRS) is the Oracle C44Peoplesoft based system for personnel, payroll and benefit data processes for UW-System campuses.

Hyperion Interactive Reporting (IR)

Hyperion Interactive Reporting (IR) uses a set of techniques and tools for acquiring and transforming raw data into meaningful and useful information for business analysis.  UWBI is the UW-System Hyperion Interactive Reporting tool.   Hyperion was previously called Brio.  Hyperion Interactive Reporting will be replaced by UWBI in 2018.


Identification, Authentication and Authorization (IAA) system provides identity management and authentication services to support the secure deployment of approved applications through UW-System.  Data is submitted to the IAA system from each campus and approved software applications have the ability to query, access or obtain data from IAA.

Identity management

Identity management is the process of creating/removing accounts, managing account information, and providing access to data, applications, systems, and other IT resources. 

Imagenow / Perceptive Content

Imagenow is the enterprise document management and workflow application used for online document storage and workflow processing. This includes WebNow / Perceptive Content Experience, the online component.


Impero Instructional Software can be used by faculty in many labs to view and control student screens.  More information on using Impero.


Network infrastructure is the hardware and software resources that enable connectivity, communications, operations, and management of an enterprise network. This includes networked computers, routers, cables, wireless access points, switches, backbones, protocols, and access methodologies.

Information Security

Information security consists of activities essential to protecting sensitive data, personally identifiable information, and ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations. More information regarding information security.

Instructional Technology

Design, specify, procure, install and maintain all classroom technology. Training and technical support is provided for effective use of classroom equipment. This service is offered for conference and event spaces campus-wide, such as Kress Events Center, Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, and University Union.

Internet Service Provider

UWGB uses SysNet as its Internet Service Provider. SysNet is a high bandwidth, low latency network that connects UW System Administration and all of the other UW universities and colleges.

Kentico Content Management System

Content Management System (CMS) is the system and processes where information is created, managed, published, and archived. A content management system (CMS) provides the necessary infrastructure for multiple people to contribute content and collaborate. It allows for web content to be edited without the need for a specialized skill set. With a CMS, editing the web is as easy as creating a Word document.  The content management system used at UW-Green Bay is Kentico.


Kiosk stations are designed to provide quick access to email, SIS, D2L, etc.  Please go to a computer lab if you need access to campus software, your network files, or printers.  We ask that you notify the CIT Help Desk at 465-2309 if you experience any problems with these machines.  More information about the Kiosks as well as their locations.


Learn@UW, managed by DoIT at UW-Madison, hosts the D2L system.  Each UW-System campus manages its own instance of D2L in terms of user management and support.

List Server

A list server is a communication tool used by its members to participate in on-line discussions by posting comments, suggestions, and other information to a large number of people at the same time. UWGB supports Lyris as its list server. is the gateway to more than 1,400 training videos on a broad range of subjects, including business skills, photography, design, music and video, home computing, animation, and web design and development. Master Calendar

Master Calendar is campus calendaring software that interfaces with the Event Management System (EMS) and is used as a central location for displaying all events in the different categories.

Maxient Judicial System

Maxient is the software used by the Dean of Students office to track behavior records at the university.  It provides centralized reporting and recordkeeping for student discipline, academic integrity, student conduct and student care and concern data.


MBS is the software application that the UW-Green Bay Bookstore uses for ordering and selling textbooks and course materials for students and faculty.

Media Equipment Delivery, Setup and Support

Video projectors, sound systems, computer carts, document cameras, interactive Sharp Aquos Boards, monitors, conference phones, dry erase markers, and white boards are examples of equipment that can be requested for use in areas where items are not permanently installed. Meeting Matrix

Meeting Matrix is software used by the University Union for setting up and diagramming rooms.

National Student Clearinghouse

National Student Clearinghouse is the third party vendor used by the Registrar's Office for degree verification. This is accessible from SIS.


NelNet is the credit card vendor used by UW-Green Bay for credit card and eCheck payments and refunds of student tuition and fees in SIS.


To get game consoles, streaming devices such as an Apple TV, wireless printers that support Air Print, or Smart TVs connected use the UWGB-NetReg network. This network allows devices not compatible with the 802.1x authentication used by eduroam to connect. For more on how to connect a device to NetReg click here.

Network Ports

Network ports provide access to the UWGB data network and the Internet through a wired network outlet or jack. Network ports are activated by IT.

Network Copper and Fiber Infrastructure Installation and Support

Able to pull, terminate and test wires and fibers. Support offered for wireless access points, uninterruptible power supplies, and data switches.

Office 365 / SharePoint Online

Office 365 is a cloud-based collection of software, services, and productivity tools—including email, calendaring and group collaboration—that students, faculty, and staff are eligible to access as part of our campus agreement with Microsoft. All can download and install Microsoft Office 2016 on their personal computer. OneDrive for Business

OneDrive for Business is a place where you can store, sync, and share your work files. As part of Office 365, OneDrive for Business lets you update and share your files from anywhere, and work on Office documents with others simultaneously.  Get started using OneDrive through Office 365.

OnSSI and Ocularis

On-Net Surveillance Systems, INC (OnSSI) is one of the leaders in physical security information management.  They provide the Ocularis software for video surveillance that is used at UW-Green Bay.  Ocularis is centrally managed video surveillance software for the on campus cameras, investigations and reporting.

Paper Save

Papersave is document management, electronic workflow, transaction automation software used by the Advancement office.  Integrated with Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge.

PC & Mac Repair

for campus owned devices. All campus owned machines are managed by the IT department. Users can stop by in person, call, or email for assistance with all PC & Mac repair needs.

PC & Mac Desktop Management

Faculty and staff at UW-Green Bay will be provided with a networked computer that supports the standard applications needed to be effective in their work.  These applications include:  email, word processing, spreadsheet,  presentation software,  basic database services, web development, and access to the Internet. You can install additional software through the Application Catalog.

Peoplesoft / Peopletools

Peoplesoft / Peopletools is the Oracle application and development tools for the SIS (Peoplesoft Campus Solutions), HRS (Peoplesoft Human Resources) and SFS (Peoplesoft Finances) systems. This includes Weblogic and Tuxedo products.

Persona Door Access System

Persona Campus Access Control Solutions by Assa Abloy is used by the campus for manage locks and card swipes on campus facilities and to integrate with ID cards, SIS, RMS and Blackboard software applications. The hardware install and software integration for interior and exterior doors and spaces is coordinated by the IT Division.

Pharos Print Management / U-Print-IT

The Pharos U-Print-It system is a print management system installed in UWGB labs and all kiosk computers. After sending a print job from any workstation, the user may go to a Print Release station to print the document using a University ID or guest print card. Point n Click

Point n Click Solutions,  the software application that Counseling and Health uses, provides a complete suite of products specifically designed for college health centers.

Policy Compliance

Evaluate, plan, and implement policy compliance measures to meet the demands of the UW Board of Regents, UW System, Federal statutes, and State statutes.

Printer Installation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting

The query library is a repository of common shared queries that are available for faculty and staff who work with benefits, human resource and payroll data. The shared queries were developed at and are supported by UW-System.

QuickBooks and MultiCHAX

QuickBooks and MultiCHAX are software used by the Controller's office and other departments for accounting and check printing.

Raiser's Edge

Raiser's Edge is fundraising and relationship management software used by the Advancement office to report and track projects, funds and appeals and manage donor, contacts and interactions.  Integrated with Financial Edge and Papersave.


Redshelf is the software vendor that the UW-Green Bay bookstore uses for electronic textbooks.

Remote Desktop for Staff

The Remote Desktop service offers faculty and staff access to their campus Windows computer from any location on or off campus via an Internet connection. Your campus PC can be awakened and logged into from any Windows or Macintosh computers at any time, giving you access to software installed on your PC, your personal network share (M Drive), department shares, and office printers. Remote Lab for Students

The UW-Green Bay Remote Lab service offers students access to a campus lab computer from any location on or off campus via an Internet connection. A pool of PCs can be logged into from either Windows or Macintosh clients any time of the day or night, giving students access to core & specialty lab software, their personal network drive (drive M), and course shares. Resident Life Internet Support (Resnet/HouseIT)

ResNet (a.k.a. Residential Network) is the housing resident’s Internet source.  In partnership with IT, connectivity is offered via the eduroam wireless network for smartphones, laptops, and tablets. For more information on eduroam click here.


Residential Management Systesm (RMS) is the student housing and conference management software used by Residence Life.  


RoomPact will be implemented by Residence Life in 2018 to be used for planning, managing, and assessing programs, events and services as well as community development and learning opportunities for Residents of Residence Life.  


RoomSync is an online roommate matching service that is integrated with RMS and allows students to self select their roommates using their responses to a questionnaire on their lifestyle habits such as cleanliness levels, studying habits, sleep cycles and others.


Rpal is a customized web application that is used by Residence Life to track packages delivered to Residence Life.


Salesforce will be the new CRM implemented by UW-Green Bay in 2018.

Sedona is a self service web database program that allows faculty to maintain their teaching, research and service records.  Administrators can use it to document accreditation, track progress and performance, manage reviews and aid in decision making.


Student Financial Systems (SFS) is the Peoplesoft Finances application used by UW-System for automating, centralizing and standardizing financial transactions.

SharePoint Online Collaboration Service

SharePoint Online is a cloud-based collaboration tool used to share information with colleagues inside or outside of UWGB. SharePoint sites are setup upon request through the IT Helpdesk. 


Student Information System (SIS) is the Oracle Peoplesoft Campus Solutions application used for students, faculty and staff.  It is an enterprise wide system for student transactions: applications, financial aid, course enrollment, viewing grades, checking requirements, viewing transcripts.  It is by students, faculty and staff and administrative offices for : admissions, financial aid, student financials and student records.

Skype for Business

Skype for Business is an enterprise communications platform for real-time collaboration. Features include instant messaging, audio calls, video calls, Web conferencing and desktop sharing.  The basics of using Skype for Business.

SSL Certificates

SSL Certificates provide secure, encrypted communications between a website and an internet browser. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, the protocol which provides the encryption. SSL Certificates are typically installed on pages that require end-users to submit sensitive information over the internet like credit card details or passwords. UWGB uses InCommon as its SSL certificate provider.

Study Abroad

Study Abroad by Terra Dotta is web based software that automates processes and makes it easier for applicants, staff, administrators and parents to receive information on study abroad programs, accept applications online, organize data and mitigate risks associated with international travel.  StudioAbroad was renamed to Study Abroad.


Talisma by Campus Management is the current CRM at UW-Green Bay. It will be replaced by Salesforce in 2018.

Technology Purchasing

The IT Division maintains a central fund for the replacement of workstations for GPR based operations.  The fund covers an optimal desktop computer with standard campus software installed.

Assist students, faculty and staff in using audio and video equipment and production techniques to support podcasting and audio/video curricular projects.

Telephone/Voicemail System Installation, Operation and Maintenance

Administration of the campus Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system serving over 1000 lines for all departments and users.


TMA Systems allows the Facilities department to manage their physical assets and maintenance operations and track and process maintenance requests. 


IT has a full-time technical trainer to offer students, faculty, and staff technology training, best practices, and how-to’s on the use of technology, commonly used programs, and common technology questions. All are encouraged to contact the to ask for technology training.

Ungerboeck / USI

Ungerboeck Software International (USI) is used by the Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement for event and conference management, planning, registration, reporting and accounting.  


University of Wisconsin Business Intelligence (UWBI) is the new Business Intelligence tool that will replace Oracle's Brio/Hyperion Interactive Reporting (IR) software.   The software is Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).

Visix Digital Signs

Visix is the digital signage system used by the University Union and throughout campus.


UWGB has a VMWare virtualization environment supporting hundreds of Windows and Linux virtual servers. IT manages the server OS installation, configuration, patching and maintenance, as well as backup/recovery, security, networking, hardware, storage and monitoring.

Wash Alert

Wash Alert software is used by Residence Life to track the status of washers and dryers, to email notifications alerting when the machines are available and when the cycle has finished.

Web Conference Site Support

Skype, WebEx, BlueJeans and Blackboard Collaborate are a few examples of supported software collaboration products.

Web Development

Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet (World Wide Web).  Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet application  or electronic business.

Web Hosting

UWGB hosts websites for approved University programs. Websites created in the domain and hosted on IT web servers use Kentico Content Management System to manage their sites. Get started using Kentico.

Wireless Network

UWGB students and employees can connect to a secure wireless network using Eduroam. Eduroam not only connects you to UWGB’s secure wireless network, it allows you to connect to wireless networks at many other institutions across the US using your UWGB login credentials.  Instructions on how to connect various devices to eduroam.


WISDM is the online Wisconsin datamart for the UW-System Shared Financial System (SFS).   


WISER is an improved, redesigned version of the online Wisconsin datamart for the UW-System Shared Financial System (SFS).
