The GBIT Team
The GBIT staff collaborates to manage our email systems, servers, network and website, ensuring UW-Green Bay’s technological needs are met. Below is a quick break down of our teams and what they do to keep UW-Green Bay moving forward.
Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The role of CIO continues to change as technology evolves over time. We look to our CIO to provide leadership, organization and strategic responsibilities in the landscape of higher education and IT growth.
Technology Support Services
Our Technology Support Services (TSS) team are the friendly faces behind the Green Bay Information Technology (GBIT) Service Desk. Most of you know us already, but if you do not, we are the team that handles the procurement, assembly, and setup of your university-issued computers, laptops, and mobile devices, and are here to answer questions you may have regarding academic technology!
Central to our incredible team is our GBIT Service Desk, which is staffed by our amazing students! They are our first level of support, ready to stomp out those annoying tech gremlins, as well as walk you through issues you may be experiencing. We could not do what we do without them!
Next, you meet our Endpoint Support team, who are solely responsible for providing technical standards for the procurement of new equipment for the university. Things like your laptop, desktop, mobile device, monitor, docking station? That all comes through our endpoint team!
TSS also expands its footprint to our additional locations by providing in-person support for each campus’s technology needs. These individuals allow us to provide rapid responses to any significant issues and are utilized amongst every branch of the IT Division.
Academic Technology Services
The Academic Technology Services team provides support for classroom and meeting room technologies, as well as audio/visual equipment and support needs for events of all sizes across the University. Understanding the importance and possibilities of multimedia and instructional technologies, Academic Technology Services offers a wide range of services to UWGB faculty, staff, and students.
Enterprise Applications
The Enterprise Applications team is responsible for massive applications on campus like SIS, Canvas, Salesforce and the UW-Green Bay website. They work closely with campus departments like Admissions, Financial Aid and Student Billing Resources to support their technology needs. The team is made up of developers and business analysts who create and troubleshoot systems.
IT Infrastructure
The IT Infrastructure is composed of four teams. The Networking team builds and supplies wired and wireless network services for the University. The Desktop Administration team builds, maintains, patches and upgrades the operating systems and applications on UWGB computers and supported devices. The Server Administration team builds, maintains, patches and upgrades the servers that host enterprise applications for the University. Finally, IT Security is provided by a combination of the Universities of Wisconsin Administration and UW Green Bay employees. Ensuring a safe and reliable IT Infrastructure for the University.
