Spanish for Educators

This six-week noncredit virtual course has been designed for educators and support staff who interact with Spanish-speaking students and their families, familiarizing them with simple words for everyday things, such as conversational phrases and sentences, phrases to use in the cafeteria and on the playground. You will also learn words for enrolling new students and conversing in the classroom, especially talking about rules and expectations and basic vocabulary for academic subjects.

  • Learn basic Spanish pronunciation
  • Acquire knowledge of survival phrases for parent-teacher conferences

Bethany Welch is a lifelong language learner with a Master of Arts in Foreign Language and Literature, specializing in translation.
She has made language a focal point of her career.

Bethany has taught Spanish, German, and English to speakers of other languages to all age levels at the university and in Marinette School District. She also served as an English Language Learning consultant, a translator of Spanish and German texts into English, and an interpreter  in a variety of academic, civil and criminal proceedings. She has also taught freshmen seminars on the connections between language and culture and currently serves as the Marinette campus’s academic advisor.

Retirement Planning Fundamentals

This course is a must if you are over the age of 55 and over three weeks focuses on how you may prepare for a comfortable retirement. This course is planned to be held at the UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus but will be moved to a virtual format, if necessary. In this course, you will learn:

  • Concepts and strategies to help you handle your day-to-day finances
  • How to potentially reduce your taxes and manage your investments
  • Optional: How to assess your current financial situation and develop a personalized plan during a one-on-one meeting with a financial advisor

Retirement Planning Fundamentals

Online, Self-Paced
Fee: $54

This course is a must if you are over the age of 55 and focuses on how you may prepare for a comfortable retirement. This is the same training as the in-person session but available completely online and able to be accessed anytime. Instructions on how to access the online course will be outlined in the email confirmation you will receive after enrollment. Duration: Approximately 6 hours to complete. In this course, you will learn.

  • Concepts and strategies to help you handle your day-to-day finances
  • How to potentially reduce your taxes and manage your investments
  • Optional: How to assess your current financial situation and develop a personalized plan during a one-on-one meeting with a financial advisor

Aaron Bauer
Though he works with the marketing, financial planning and the investment department, Aaron Bauer has developed his own niche at Winch Financial. He recently passed his Series 65 and is now a licensed financial advisor. With a background in IT, he also helped develop proprietary financial planning software and overhauled an interactive income sheet that projects retirement needs and fund availability. He also helps with client updates and writes a bi-monthly post for the Winch Financial blog. Additionally, he is working his way toward a CFP designation.

In his role as investment analyst, Christian prepares charts and technical analysis for the daily investment department meetings and writes a weekly market review for the Winch Financial website. He is also a Registered Investment Advisor Representative and achieved his FINRA Series 65 designation and his Chartered Market Technician (CMT®) designation. A featured speaker for the Learning in Retirement program through the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, Christian also teaches classes at UWGB – Manitowoc and UWO – Fox Valley.
Matt Weyers
A former classroom teacher, Weyers effectively breaks down the elements of a complicated industry in both seminars and one-on-one settings. Matt holds both an insurance license and a Series 65 certification. He also works with businesses on their buy/sell agreements and key man insurance policies. In his work with Winch Financial clients, he analyzes insurance needs and makes suggestions regarding life insurance, long-term care insurance and estate planning.
Sam Winch
During a 20-year career, Sam Winch, Winch Financial President, has maintained a passion for investment management and education. He holds a dual role at Winch Financial as both an investment analyst and an advisor. Sam enjoys a large client base and meets with investors regularly to discuss their retirement goals, financial opportunities and progress. He also makes allocation suggestions and coordinates with members of the investment department to optimize portfolios

Angela has experience providing community educational programming, providing outpatient counseling to a variety of ages and populations, and also provides critical incident debriefings for first responders after traumatic incidents.
