General Admission Requirements

Before you begin your application, ensure you meet the general requirements for graduate study at UW-Green Bay. All applicant materials must be submitted through the CAS portal. While individual programs may have additional criteria, all applicants must provide the following:

Complete Application
Bachelor’s Degree: You must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution (or US equivalent) before your first term of enrollment.
GPA Requirement: Unless otherwise indicated for a specific program, a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale; or at least a 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 hours of academic course work; or at least a 2.75 grade point average on a minimum of 9 hours of graduate credits; or evidence of professional certification or licensure in a relevant area as determined by the proposed program; or other program-approved relevant information. The submission of these additional items is a requirement for consideration, but it is not a guarantee of admission. Some programs have higher grade point average admission requirements. Students from schools not using a grading system will be evaluated on an individual basis. Calculate your GPA.

Official Transcripts: You must submit official transcripts from all academic institutions where a bachelor’s degree or above has been or will be earned, as well as any institution attended where transfer credit is desired. If graduate level work has been done, these official transcripts must also be submitted. Applicants may be asked to submit additional information if the documentation is insufficient.
Non-refundable Application Fee: A non-refundable graduate application fee will be paid within the online application portal.

No GRE or GMAT Tests

Special Admission Considerations

The sections below explain application fee waivers, requirements for international applicants and how graduate certificates work for current students.

McNair Scholars Application Fee Waiver

We will pay the graduate school application fee for McNair Scholars. To receive this benefit, request an application fee payment form from your undergraduate McNair Scholars contact or download a fee waiver form.

If you're a McNair Scholar, simply skip the application fee payment section of the application. Send the completed fee form to the UW-Green Bay Office of Graduate Studies, via email to gradstu@uwgb.edu or mail hard copy to 2420 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay, WI 54311. Once we receive your form, your application will be updated in our system to confirm the payment requirement has been completed.

Additional International Students Admission Requirements

International applicants must submit additional documentation for graduate admission. This may include:

Proof of English language proficiency
International academic transcripts
Additional supporting materials required by the program

Study abroad transcripts are not required if you attended an international university for one semester or less as part of a study abroad program. Review the international admission guidelines for complete requirements.

Declaring a Graduate Certificate

Graduate certificates are short, specialized programs that can be completed on their own or alongside a graduate degree.

If you are already enrolled in a graduate degree program, you do not need to submit a separate application for certificates offered within your degree. Instead, submit a declaration form in SIS. Apply to the certificate program directly only when you are not pursuing a degree.

How to Cancel Graduate Admission

If your plans change after you apply and you decide not to enroll, just contact the Graduate Studies office so your application can be canceled. Email gradstu@uwgb.edu or call (920) 465-2865.
