Breaks and Departures
Our residential facilities are open year-round. Summer housing is available if you wish to contract with us for the summer. The buildings that house students throughout the summer will be designated each year.
As part of a full-academic year housing contract, you are welcome to stay in your fall assignment during the Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks. If you choose to stay during breaks, when classes are not in session, please be aware of the following:
- Dining options are limited.
- During break periods, office staff are available at the Community Center and Resident Mentors (RMs), Hall Managers (HMs) and Assistant Directors (ADs) provide staffing coverage overnight as well.
- Housing personnel will be conducting safety checks and doing maintenance work in all student rooms and apartments throughout the breaks. You will be given advance notice whenever possible (email, letter, signs, note on your door, etc) if our staff need to enter your room or apartment but it is not always possible.
Express Check-out
Your RM will hold a meeting before semester break and before the end-of-the-year closing to inform you of what needs to be done. You will also receive information via e-mail and your campus mailbox.
At the end of the year, in order to avoid cleaning charges, you will need to move your things out of your space and clean your space thoroughly. Damages and repairs not related to normal wear and tear will be billed to the resident. Contact Housing & Residential Education at 920-465-2040 for more information about reporting damages prior to check-out.
In Spring, all residents must officially check-out online. It is recommended that you do so after you have moved all of your belongings out of the room and cleaned it. When you check-out online, your building access will end. Housing personnel will inspect your room after check-out to assess cleanliness and needed repairs.
