Heinrich, Dorothy L. (nee Raschke), 94, Green Bay, died August 16, 2014. She was born, July 8, 1920 to the late Harry A. & Lorena (Phillips) Raschke. Dorothy was the wife of the late Harry H. Heinrich of Green Bay, WI
She served in WAVES, attending Hunter College for preparation and was stationed in Pensacola, FL during World War II.
Dorothy did her undergraduate studies at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, and earned her master's in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She worked for many years as special collections librarian, curator of the University Archives and curator of the Area Research Center at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. She received the Community Outreach Award from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. She had a special interest in archiving the Wisconsin Belgian-American community and was active in numerous archiving and collecting societies. She pursued a passion in weaving.
Dorothy was the sister of Merriam J. Grundy (Frank) of Dublin, OH, and the late Harry R. Raschke (Marjorie) of Bethlehem, PA.
She was the aunt of Frank Grundy, the late Merri Grundy, Renee Raschke, Mark Raschke, Rebecca Bell, Suzanne Fontaine, and J. Hope Raschke.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial at the chapel at Woodside Lutheran Home, 1040 Pilgrim Way, Green Bay at 5:30 pm Monday, August 18.

Passing of Dorothy Heinrich, librarian and Founders honoree

Dorothy L. Heinrich, a former special collections librarian for UW-Green Bay and curator of the University Archives and the Area Research Center, passed away Aug. 16 at the age of 94. During the first decade of operation of the Cofrin Library (then called the Library-Learning Center), Heinrich helped make it a destination for historians and researchers. She made countless visits and speaking engagements, and led workshops to help familiarize Northeastern Wisconsin residents with the resources of the Library and University. She was instrumental, along with Prof. William Laatsch, in the development of the popular Belgian-American Ethnic Collection, which was funded by a 1976 Bicentennial grant. Heinrich was the first non-faculty-member to win the Founders Association Award for Excellence in Community Outreach, in 1979, shortly before her retirement. Newcomer Green Bay funeral service assisted the family with arrangements.
