How to Audit a Class

For the complete Auditor policy, please see the Registrar's Office website. The decision to enroll on an audit basis for tuition purposes must be made at the time of registration. Any course fees or field trip expenses are the responsibility of each student.

Audit only students must have written approval from the course instructor prior to enrolling. To get approval from the course instructor and apply for a reduced fee, use the Audit/Change Grading Basis Form located on Registrar's webpage. Additionally, audit only students must complete a special student application with the Admissions office. Residency determination will be made at the time of application/admission to the University.

Students can audit any undergraduate course except:

  • Independent study
  • Internships
  • Honors projects
  • Professional courses in Education, Nursing, and Social Work
  • Adult Degree courses open to BAS and BA-ILS majors only
  • Graduate level courses
