Undergraduate Program Assessment

General Education Learning Outcomes and Institutional Learning Outcomes

All lower-level courses that meet a General Education requirement are assessed on a three-year cycle according to College (see below) to determine if students are progressing toward the General Education Learning Outcomes for that course. Programs determine the courses to assess for each General Education Outcome in their program and conduct a baseline assessment, create an intervention for outcomes that do not meet the 85% benchmark in the second year, and reassess after implementing the intervention the third year. Programs are responsible for norming and maintaining their artifacts. Programs engaged in assessment complete an Assessment Plan and a Final Assessment Report.

Lower-level, Upper-Level and Graduate Courses are also assessed in regard to UWGB’s Institutional Learning Outcomes on a three-year cycle according to College (see below). Programs are encouraged to use the AACU Value Rubrics as the basis for evaluation of proficiency for Institutional Learning Outcome Assessment. CATL and the Assessment Coordinator have created Canvas training materials for using the AACU Value Rubrics, and this training is available to all instructors. Programs are responsible for norming and maintaining their artifacts. Programs engaged in assessment complete an Assessment Plan and a Final Assessment Report.

Since we are beginning a new cycle of Assessment in 2021, some programs will not be engaged in General Education Learning Outcome Assessment or Institutional Learning Outcome Assessment in a given year. Those programs will fill out a Status Report in the years that they are not undergoing General Education and Institutional Learning Outcome Assessment.
